3. Outfit

It had been a long time since Zoe had bought new clothes, so when the mysterious infernal came to Silverlight, tossing candy into the air and opening a store where the candy could be used as currency, Zoe had to go and take a peek. For the longest time, Zoe hadn't worn clothes at all, not until they interacted with Lady Elizabeth, who ran the main store for livestock care, who had generously given Zoe enough silver to buy an outfit of their very own. Lady Elizabeth often wore clothing and Zoe had admired her for it. After hearing about the expert seamstress, Jade Mirage, Zoe had spent some time in Home Sewn, the clothing shop of Silverlight until she'd picked out a casual vest, skirt and a pair of shoes - which Jade had described to be colored in the theme of 'Meadow Balm'. 

Since the purchase of that one outfit, Zoe found themselves to feel insecure about the idea of taking it off. They had never felt as pretty as some of the kitsu in Silverlight, with their bold neon colors seeming unnatural. When they'd first been summoned to Silverlight, they'd encountered two kitsu speaking to one another, Pyxis and Lunala, who looked as thought they'd been crafted from the most beautiful parts of the night sky. How could Zoe with her flashy hues, ever amount to that level of beauty and grace? They'd been too shy to talk to them - it was a miracle enough that they'd worked up the nerve to talk to Lady Elizabeth, who's beautiful fur was perfectly balanced between bright and muted hues. 

So, Zoe covered up their intensely bright fur with a pleasant shade of green and had gone about their days sense. It was a battle to keep the outfit clean, given that they worked so closely with their fyrefowl. Cleaning a coop in beautiful green attire made Zoe nervous, but if Lady Elizabeth found a way to keep her outfits clean, even when working among livestock, then by golly, Zoe would find a way to do it too. 

They'd been considering going back to visit Home Sewn to see if there were any new lines of clothing out. They'd seen many a kitsu walking around with masks, holding colorful pails with fun imagery and even a few with a costume resembling that of a fyrehen or lallabaa. The latter was something Zoe could never imagine themselves wearing. They were pretty sure if they bought a fyrehen outfit and tried to come into the coop back home, that her hens would fly into a frenzy and move to attack their caregiver in disguise. 

So, when Zoe went to Jade Mirage's store and found that instead the costumes were coming not from Jade, but from the new candy sporting infernal, who had opened a store of their own called Sweetie's Tooth, well, Zoe simply had to come and see what all the fuss was about. 

Which led them to where they were presently, standing in the store in front of a mirror with one witchy hat propped up one one paw and a blue kitsusagi mask in the other. They could afford both, sure, but would both look good on them? Or would they find themselves tangled in the crossroads of fashion for a long while yet to come? They sighed, trying to locate the infernal who ran the shop. Maybe Zoe could get a second opinion on which of the hats and masks would help subdue Zoe's colorations. 

Then again, if they really wanted to hide their colors, they supposed they could always purchase one of the available bedsheets and go around as a ghostly figure instead. Mmm, no, not that. That was too much for any kitsu, Zoe decided and continued to pine over the differences between the hat and the mask.
