Duckies on a Walk
Larkspur woke up feeling excited for the day. She was planning on going for a walk outside of town to enjoy the weather before it got too cold to go out without bundeling up. She loved this season the most in all regards except for where her beloved garden was concerned. Still, she could grow things year round so it was hard to complain too much. And of course, as it always did when she thought about her plants, her mind began to wander to what she would grow next. Then she was making a mental list of seeds to buy the next time she went shopping, and plans for meals to make when things began to sprount and oh dear there she goes again. Giving her head a quick shake she chuckled at herself, reminding herself she needed to stay focused. One thing at a time she repeated to herself, and today's thing was a walk. Get out of the house and get some exercise. That was todays plan and she was excited for it even if her mind was easily distracted.
Finally the young Kitsu made it outside, a small bag on her back holding a blanket and a couple books and some snacks. Just in case she found a nice spot to take a break in, which was reasonable she deteremined. Of course she would find a nice spot to read in, she always did, but that was for later. Right now she was getting ready to start her walk, not sure where she was going exactly, just walking to get some steps in and maybe end up somewhere she hadn't yet been. Larkspur only made it a handful of steps before she heard tiny webbed feet behind her. She stopped and turned around to see two of her Meloduckies right behind her, looking up with bright eyes. Her Marigold and Posy duckies where waiting expectantly.
"You two cannot come with me, you belong here." She said with a giggle. A quank in response and she frowned.
"Oh? And what happens when you two get tired? I will have to carry you home." She said and sighed when the Posy duckie nodded, as if that was the obvious course of action. "Fine, fine, let's go. But I don't want any complaints for at least thirty minutes, understnad?" She asked, nodding when she got two quacks of agreement and the trio began their walk.
This didn't change Larkspur's plans by much other than making a mental note that they wouldn't walk as far as she had originally planned. She wouldn't mind carrying her duckies back home but she didn't want to intentionally exhaust them either. Besides she did appreciate the company. So on they walked, she let the pair walk in front of her and cooed over how cute it was that they waddled in sync like best friends.
The walk was lovely, and they found a nice tree to sit under for a bit, Larkspur set out her blanket and said with the Meloduckies, they dozed off for a bit and she read a couple chapters of her book. She stopped when the Marigold duckie began to wake up and complain, waking up her sister. "Are you two ready to head home then?" She asked. The answering quack took a few mintues, almost as if they were considering their options before decided yes they did indeed want to head back. Larkspur smiled and replaced everything back in her bag before allowing her duckies to lead the way back home. And of course, just as she predicted earlier she did end up carrying both of them the last leg of the journey back to the house.
