Zoe had managed, somehow, remarkably, to convince Elizabeth to help them set up a fyrehen coop by their "tree of residence" as they'd taken to calling it. Sure, Zoe still seemed like a vagabond in comparison to Elizabeth by comparison, who had her home home and shop and a proper source of income and trade, but Zoe was starting to learn the lay of the town and they were happy for it. Elizabeth had even called upon them for helping with their own fyrefowl and - just recently - of their lallabaa!
Zoe had seen other kitsusagi who owned their own personal lallabaa; they seemed cute enough, er- the fluffy lallabaa, not the other kitsusagi (well, maybe some of them were cuter than others, but Zoe didn't have the time to dwell on that just now!) Anyway, uh! Other kitsusagi owned lallabaa and the lallabaa were cute, so when Elizabeth came by Zoe's tree and asked for their assistance with the creatures, Zoe had no trouble in accepting. They even did so with a smile.
They hadn't a clue, not really, how to go about building things of their own, but the knowledge that Elizabeth was there to help them made them feel as though they could learn a new skill. Hey, maybe building (as well as fyrefowl ownership) was their secret talent that would get them through their new life! There was only one way to find out, right?
With a hammer in one paw and a ready attitude about them, they listened closely to Elizabeth's instructions. They had to ask her to repeat instructions more often than not - they wanted to make sure they did it right the first time, instead of running the risk of messing it up half way through - or even worse, when they thought they were finished only to find one quintessential board or nail out of place. No, Zoe had agreed to help and so, Zoe was going to make sure that this barn would be among the best that Elizabeth had! (337)
