For a pen

Changying had arrived at Farm Song just in time it seemed as Elizabeth announced that there was lallabaas where in stock. But it seemed they weren’t prepared for an early arrival of stock. “Oh my, look at how cute these critters are,” Changying couldn’t help but squeal over the fluffy creatures. “I’d be more than happy to help out. I’m sure we could whip out a pen to hold them in no time.”

Changying helped Elizabeth unload the supplies needed to build a decent sized pen for the lallabaas; it included multiple round wooden posts, lots of boards, and nails to secure the boards to the posts. Elizabeth even provided the necessary tools, hole diggers and hammers, to set up. Elizabeth then opened a piece of parchment that had markings on it, a basic pen plan. They selected a spot to set up the pen and based on the building plans, laid out the posts. They divided up the work, each kitsu getting half the holes and posts. Changying set to working digging up the holes and setting a post down in each finished hole.

Once Elizabeth had finished her half, one of them would hold the post in place while the other refilled the holes around it and packed it down. This also took some time but they pushed through. After a small water and snack break, both kitsu went back to work. It was now time to add the boards. Changying held the boards in place as Elizabeth nailed both ends to a post, at least three boards high between each post. This went on til they made it all the way around, the last section was for a gate. Elizabeth had brought a premade gate and the items to attach it to one post and then a latch for the other post. Elizabeth showed Changying how to install the gate and once it was complete, closed it and reopened it. “Works like a dream.”
