Calfuray and the Acorn Crafts

Calfuray followed Fantasia around outside, watching her feed the fyrefowl she had in the yard. Fantasia was telling her about the different ones and what they were like when Calfuray's attention switched to the ground. She spied a couple acorns and bent down to pick them up. The two would walk around a bit, she listened to everything Fantasia said but every time she spied an acorn on the ground she stopped to pick it up. Acorn seed without a top? Picked it up. Top without a seed? Picked it up. By the time Fantasia had finished going over all the fowl and baas Calfuray had two paws full of acorns. Fantasia turned around to say something else and stopped as she looked at the young Imperial. She blinked back up at the older kitsu, trying to ignore the acorns. Fantasia giggled but didn't say anything about them.

"Well, that's about it. Any questions Ray?" She asked, using the nickname which admittedly Calfuray liked a lot especially as nobody else used it so it made it special.
"Um no, I got it all." She replied, glancing over at the baas wandering around.
"Alright, well then let's head back inside and I can make us some sandwiches for lunch" Fantasia said and Calfuray followed her back towards the house. She managed to cram a couple more acorns in her paws in the short walk before they were inside.

Fantasia went to the kitchen to make a quick lunch. Calfuray settled on the floor in the living room with all her acorns. She stared at them for a while before leaving the pile to go and look for something. She needed a good adhesive. It took a bit of searching but she managed to find something that would work perfectly. With a happy flick of her tail she returned to her pile of acorns and sat down. She got to work, careful not to get any adhesive on her fur, gluing the small things together. At first she was just messing around. She found two with the tops off and glued them on top of each other, then picked one that still had a cap attached and glued it to the top. She bit her lip, and set everything down to go find some type of marker or something to draw with. Finding a black marker she once again returned to her pile of stuff. She picked up the trio of acorns and on the top one she drew a face with a smile. She smiled herself and sat it down on the table before moving on. She made a couple more like that before setting everything down and going to look for some paint. She knew Fantasia had gotten her some recently she just had to remember where it was. Before she could find it she was being called to the kitchen. With a sigh she put her search, and her crafting, on pause to fill her stomach. She sat with Fantasia at the kitchen table and licked her lips. It was a simple meal but still one she enjoyed. They ate together in mostly silence as the young girl stuffed her face. Finally, as she was about halfway done with her second sandwich she stopped and looked up.

"Tasia, do you remember where we put my paints?" She asked softly, she still felt a little nervous talking to her but she was noticeably warmer than she had been initially.
"Hm yes, we put it in your closet didn't we?" She said, trying to remember.
"Oh! Yes!" Calfuray's eyes widened in excitement. "Is it ok if I paint a bit?"
"Of course, that's why we bought it after all. Just make sure to set up at the table ok?" Fantasia chuckled at the excitement from the little one.

Calfuray finished the rest of her food as quick as she could before racing to her room to dig out the paints. Her eyes were bright, she was going to be able to paint! She grabbed the colors and her brushes and raced back to the table in the living room. She got everything set up perfectly organized then went to get the small palete for the paints to go on and a cup of water and brought them to the table as well. She started picking out the bigger acorns, one was painted orange with a black toothy open mouth grin and black triangle eyes. Another was turned white with black eyes and mouth all in circles. Another orange one, and another. She looked very proud at the small "pumpkin patch" she had made. Then switched gears to make some more spooky ghosties! She was giggling away and never even noticed Fantasia peaking in on her a couple different times, smiling softly and glad she was enjoying herself.
