5. Knitting/Crochet/Needle Felt

Synthia was a go with the flow kitsu by all accounts. She had ideas of grandeur from time to time, considerations of opening up a shop that could rival the foremost shops like Home Sewn and Farm Song, but she never seemed to get much farther than coming up with the ideas. She didn't spend a lot of time actually among the community in Silverlight, hadn't made any significant connections with others in town and so had little to no idea who do approach with her ideas. It had crossed her mind to set up a shrine for Devrion in her homestead, placing offerings at it and praying to it, in hopes that he would visit her and help her get going on the idea of creating a new store of her own. But no, while some gods walked among them and there were rumors of gaining Devrion's favor, Synthia couldn't imagine that he would be interested in her, a kitsu who had ideas but no drive to see them completed. 

So, instead of turning to divine intervention and trying to make herself someone who could be known and respected by the Silverlight community, Synthia took her life as it went, one pawstep at a time. She had fyrefowl and lallabaa to tend to and she did so dutifully. Sometimes her methods are a little unorothodox - she would let the fowl roam the forested areas to peck at the ground. She hoped that would give them a more varied diet than the seeds that she bought from Farm Song. Then she'd get her exercise for the day by chasing the fyrehens around until she managed to herd them back into their coop.

Her four lallabaa were generally friendly enough on their own and listened to her without much chasing needed. The only exception to this was when she needed to shear off their wool for the warmer parts of the summer, or to trim down patches that had somehow overgrown the rest of the baa's pelt. Given that they had a tendency to bolt or jerk about through the shearing process, it was at this time that she kept them in the pen. Only a few times did she have to chase down a runaway of her herd with a half-finished hairdo. This was a relief, cause the escapee usually meant she had to spend the silver to repair the fence they'd charged down. Synthia had become a regular customer of Farm Song's and of Elizabeth's who she would often try to hire for extra silver to help tend to her livestock while Synthia put the fence back up in place. Aside from the store owners, there wasn't really anyone she thought she could turn to for such a need.  Yikes, Synthia really had to get around to making more friends.... Or any friends. 

The real mystery was what Synthia did with all the wool that she gained from the regular shear sessions with her lallabaa. She didn't have the dexterous fingers that Home Sewn's Jade Mirage seemed to have, so trying to learn how to turn the wool into anything beyond pillow fluff was too advanced for her. She'd heard about the wonder of 'knitting' how you could turn wool into smooth spirals and then somehow craft clothing garments like sweaters or scarves out of it. It sounded fun, but Synthia just couldn't imagine getting from Point A to Point B to Point Knit Successfully with ease. 

So, knowing that the wool could be used for something, but not knowing how, she donated it to Jade Mirage's shop anyway. She couldn't imagine trying to sell it - any lallabaa owner could just give away their wool, so why would Synthia try to make a market on it? In the back of her mind, she remembered that charitable acts sometimes got Devrion's attention, but she wasn't donating her wool to Jade for divine praise. She just figured that Jade Mirage, the seamstress extraordinaire, might have more use for Synthia's wool than Synthia ever would. Better that it was used by Jade and better yet if whatever it turned into made Jade, or any other number of kitsusagi even happier for it.
