[Farm Song] Catching Fyrehens

As Hekate approached the shop where she received her first coop and fyrehen, a commotion made her snap out of her own thoughts. Her brown eyes looked over towards the yard for the Farm Song livestock store to see Elizabeth frantically trying to wrangle up some loose fyrehens. Hekate paused in forward motion as her mind frantically processed what she was observing. Elizabeth then caught sight of the green kitsu standing there staring and she waved to Hekate. 

“Oh I’m so glad you’re here, do you mind giving me a hand with catching this silly birds?”

Hekate’s ears flicked back and forth in thought but then she nodded and approached the gate. Elizabeth made a gesture that seemed to mean ‘hurry’ and Hekate hustled through the gate. She set her bag down as her eyes took in the scene before her. There was several feathers laying around, tossed by the fyrehens as they flapped frantically away from the worn out kitsu. Hekate watched as Elizabeth tried to corner one but it would jump, flapping and slip away. 

Hekate bend down and pulled out her shawl from her bag and opened it up. She found the nearest loos fyrehen and approached slowly. The bird eyed her, sizing her up, waiting for the right moment to flee, but as the bird jumped to race away, Hekate tossed her shawl at it, trapping the bird. She grabbed the fyrehen through the shawl and secured it. 

“Oh thank goodness, that one has been particularly difficult to grab,” Elizabeth said as she tucked a freshly caught fyrehen under her arm. “These are the last two, let’s get them back in their pen.”

They quickly deposited the birds in the right pen, making sure no one else fled the coop. Elizabeth secured the coop door and then turned to Hekate, who was carefully folding her shawl back up. 

“Thank you so much. Your help was appreciated.”

Hekate smiled and nodded, “P-pleasure…”
