Building a (sand) castle

Fia had been settled at the beach for a while, enjoying the warm sun, the smell of the ocean, and the sound of the waves breaking at the shore.  It was peaceful and made the perfect environment to read in.  Their spirit companion had been busy doing his own thing and Fia had been paying no mind for a while.  They managed to read about six chapters of their book before the spirit nudged their shoulder,  Putting the book away they looked at their companion who had a bucket in hismouth and even though he couldn't really make clear facial expressions they knew he was frustrated.  

"What is it?" Fia asked, tilting their head to the side.  The spirit dropped the bucket, full of sand, next to Fia then looked a little ways down the beach where some other Kitsu had been making some type of sand sculpture.  "Oh I see.  Do you want to make a castle with me?" They asked.  With an excited nod Fia chucked and the pair went about ankle deep into the water with an empty bucket.  They filled the bucket with water and went back to the spot on the beach.  Slowly they poured some water in the bucket of sand.  "You have to add some water, dry sand wont hold it's shape at all but the water helps it stay together." They explained, not sure if the biting spirit actually cared about the reasoning or just if it would work.  

Once there was sufficiant water mixed in they took the bucket of wet sand and quickly turned it upside down and slammed it onto the ground.  With a little bit of nervousness they slowly pulled the bucket up and smiled proudly as the first part of the sandcastle was now set.  Spirit seemed to perk up and basically grinning.  Fia repeated the process three more times and got the corners of a square set up.  Then they worked on setting up the walls.  All in all they worked for at least an hour to get a decent looking sandcastle up.  While that had been made the spirit had worked on a moat, shovel in his mouth and digging around the castle, and under a "bridge".  The pair was having a good time, more so than Fia had anticipated having at the beach today.  

"What do you think?" They finally asked.  It wasn't fancy but it did look like a castle.  Spirit nudged Fia and motioned to the shore line.  "Yes, you're right.  We need decorations." They nodded slowly.  The duo walked over and began looking for.... anything really.  They found some shell chips, and a couple really smooth sun bleached rocks.  A couple strands of seaweed had washed up a short walk down the shore and they grabbed that as well.  Returning back to the castle they slowly began adding decorations, oh so careful not to knock anything down or messing up what they had made already.  Once everything was in place the pair stepped back and had matching proud looks with what they had created together.
