Staying cool

For the most part Saba had decided her way of staying cool was to stay home and to only do what she had to do. She still had to take care of her animals which really wasn't a good way to stay cool. She could have made another trip to Pugfish point again that was a nice way to stay cool with the wind off the water, but that was a long journey and also would likely make her really hot on the way. So instead she had decided to head to the river that she had lost her fishing pole in the other day.

She did her daily chores, caring for her animals and then she headed for the river. It took a little bit of time to get there as she walked along her mind wandered thinking about winter which was pretty much always cool. She also needed to start thinking about how she was going to make sure her animals stayed cool as well. She didn't want them to get sick or stressed from being too hot. Once she finally reached the river she first sat down at the edge of the river bank and just put her feet in the river. Enjoying the feeling of the cold water rushing over her feet.

She considered just sitting here most of the day and not even getting all the way into the water. Just having her feet in the cold water was refreshing. She wished she could bring all her animals to the river but she didn't think it would be safe for them so she would have to think of something else to do to help keep them cool instead. Saba started to kick her feet slowly in the water as she thought. Perhaps she could use a fan or something and fan her animals but that would take a long time.

She supposed the best she would be able to do for her animals was to provide them with shade and fresh water every day, which was kinda what she already did for them. Saba shook her head and then decided to get fully into the cold river water and let her scattered thoughts float away with the river for a little while. The rushing river water was really cold, but the current wasn't so strong that it would cause a problem for Saba's footing. Saba took a breath and dunked herself down into the water allowing the cold water to soak her fur. When she came back up she thought perhaps she could take her animals to the stream near her home and allow them to play there to cool down. She smiled it was a good thought and would be a lot safer than trying to take them all the way to the river where they could get hurt since they were smaller than she was.

She nodded to herself as she went to the bank of the river to head home for the day.
