22. Have a barbecue

Yume was living in the village and making necklaces from things she had gathered, she was able to sell her crafts and quickly she was able to fix up her home that had been rather run down when she first arrived. The walls were still made of the same simple material that all the houses were made of, but Yume had patched the walls with a clay mixture to make them look nicer. She had also added purple curtains to the windows made of fabric she had gotten from the market. She had dyed the fabric herself with berries she had gathered. She had a small wooden table that she used as her work bench and the chair she had made. It was pretty much just a carved log but she liked it just fine. 

 

She had the things she used to make the necklaces on the table, dried mushrooms, skulls, and a number of other beads she had fashioned from clay and allowed to dry and then she painted. She sold her crafts to other kitsu and it was working out pretty well for her at this point. 

 

She had a little place that she was able to cook. She went out and gathered wood from the forest so she could try a different thing. Yume had cut the wood herself, using a roughly had axe she had fashioned from a stone. That was tied to a nice piece of wood she had carved and smoothed out. She was going to cook with a tangy sauce. She didn't have a name for it, but she had bought some already butchered meat from the market and she intended to coat it in the tangy sauce. 

 

She planned to cook the meat on her metal rack with burning wood underneath. Yume covered the meat in the tangy sauce and then she set it aside while she got the wood hot enough to cook the meat properly. Once the fire was hot enough she put the meat on the grill and she waited a bit before she flipped it to the other side. She wasn't sure if she would like this at all. It was worth a try though. 

 

Once it was cooked all the way through or she thought it was she cut it to check that the inside looked as another kitsu had told her was safe to eat this meat. She nodded happy with what she had done. She transferred it to a roughly made plate. Then she grabbed some water she had collected earlier and she sat down to eat her food. She rather liked the tangy flavor it had a smoky flavor as well. All in all it was a delightful dish and she had no idea what to call it. Oh well, she had a nice home and she had her craft finding a name for her food just wasn't important to her. 

 

Yume had done a lot of work but she was pleased with everything she had so far in her life.
