30. Practice an Instrument

Crystal Dream didn't really play music but she had picked up a flute at the marketplace so she could try her hand at this music thing. She blew some air into the flute without putting her fingers on any of the holes the flute let out a high-pitched sound that hurt her ears. She covered some of the holes and the pitch went down lower. She kept trying even though she was likely driving her neighbors crazy with the noise. After all if she didn't practice she wouldn't get any better. She really had no idea what she was doing but it was fun trying anyway. 

 

She might have to find a kitsu that actually knew how to play music so they could teach her how to use this thing. She made soft and loud sounds with the flute she had no idea how to use it to play an actual melody. She put the flute aside and decided to go back to the market and buy a drum instead. The drum was made of stretched hide and it made a fun sound when she hit it with her hands. She learned she could make different sounds depending on where she hit the drum and how hard she hit the drum. It was a lot easier to make rhythms on drum than it was to make music with the flute. She wasn't giving up. 

 

She put the drum aside and went out to the market again and she bought a pair of maracas and a few other things. Crystal Dream really liked music it delighted her, she decided then that she wanted to have a number of different instruments and learn to use them so she could entertain other kitsu for silver. She hadn't really thought about what she wanted to do till this moment. She spent a great deal of time that day practicing her different instruments she had bought. She would need to learn to play them quickly since after her shopping spree she was now short on silver. 

 

She wasn't too worried since she was good at improvising and she knew she could find food for herself pretty easily. It looked like it might rain soon so she had no problem with staying inside and practicing her instrument and she didn't care if it drove others crazy she was happy with her life. She was actually really happy with this latest development since she now had a direction for her life. 

 

Things were coming together even if it started rather noisy she was confident it would be beautiful music pretty quickly. After a while she put everything away and she sighed with delight she had found her passion and it was pretty great. She needed to find more instruments when she had the silver to, or she had to figure out how she could make some herself. That was a good idea, she started dreaming up what other instruments she could create to make music with another day.
