13. Collect and Paint acorns

Saba was ready for a new craft, she had made a few baskets and she had made a fall wreath she had tried to make a scarf but that had been really hard and she didn't think it had turned out very well. It was going to take a lot of practice to really get it right. Either that or she was going to have to find a kitsu that actually knew what they were doing knitting. She wasn't sure if she was that passionate about knitting to really worry about it. Today she had a basket ready she went out into the forest. She loved the smell of the crisp fall leaves and she had already figured out how to make paint when she had painted rocks this summer. So she was looking for the right type of tree so she could collect acorns to paint.

Saba started looking around, she passed a bunch of different trees but they didn't drop nuts. She frowned and continued on to find a tree where she could find acorns, she wasn't sure how well it would go trying to paint something so little. She finally found the right kind of tree and she got down on the ground and started to check each nut to make sure it was solid and not rotten. She picked only the best nuts to take home with her.

Once she finished collecting all the nuts she wanted to paint, she headed back home to her cottage, she had finally finished building it. It wasn't much just a one-room cottage and it had taken her a great deal of work. She was pleased with it though and she had made a rough table and a few chairs as well. She put her basket by the table. Saba only made simple colors and for the rest of her colors she tended to mix the colors together. Still her paint was pretty basic but she didn't mind. She wanted to figure out how to make white paint at some point or find someone else who knew how to do it.

She painted the acorns in one color first on one side and left them out to dry. Then she turned them over and painted the other side. She frowned looking she needed a smaller paintbrush so she wouldn't end up with such basic dull designs on her acorns. She attempted to make a new paintbrush using some lallabaa wool, pulling it into a small point and wrapping it tightly to the carved stick with string. She attempted to use it and it kinda working but left an odd pattern on the acorn. She screwed up her face and attempted to make a different paint brush with her own hair this time, only taking a little of her white hair. She fashioned it to another carved stick and was more pleased with this stuff than she had been with the wool brush. Still she mostly ended up with acorns with lines and dots on them but oh well it had been an interesting craft.
