Get caught in a Rain storm

 Vale had been set up on a blind date and was eager to go meet the other kitsu. They were set up to go on a nice leisurely stroll and at the end Vale’s friend said they set up a picnic so there was no need to bring anything along.  Vale was excited and went to the meeting spot along the path with a large set of rocks. The sky was a bit cloudy but didn’t seem like it was going to be too bad a day. Vale had shown up early wanting to make a good impression. Time was slow to pass. A few kitsu passed by on their way to go complete small quests out of town. Vale sat on the stone and their tail twitched and lifted several times  in an expectant curl. In time kitsu left and others returned. Vale was still there. The sky darkened further.

Time seemed to slow down and tick to a crawl. While Vale had arrived early it was now well past the meeting time. Vale was tempted to just head to the picnic area and see their friend who helped to set things up but …. Part of Vale was ashamed to have been stood up. A few drops of rain started to fall. Their tail slid across the rough rock depressed. It a long while before a familiar figure came rushing down the path as the rain picked up the pace. Vale schooled his features not wanting to upset their long time friend. Geneiève was carrying a very full picnic basket with a cloth over her head. likely the picnic cloth from the looks of it. Even though her head was down the other kitsu stopped and looked at Vale. “This is where you are at? What are you doing alone….” It was clear it would keep going. Vale stopped her with a raised paw. “They never showed up. Don’t worry about it. We can go talk later. I think I would just like to sit here for a bit. I’ll stop by your house later. I promise.” Vale waved a paw gesturing his friend to leave. Vale knew their friend did not like the rain. Still She hesitated for a moment before heading back home. Vale let the relaxed mask slip back off their face as the rain continued to come down. It was not a warm comforting rain. It was a chilly cold rain but somehow to Vale right now it felt cleansing. This wasn’t the first date that had fallen though. Normally other kitsu didn’t seem to love the water as much as Vale did, or they just didn’t click well with Vale. Being stood up was just another kind of disappointment.

Thunder rumbled in the sky and more rain came down soaking the kitsu who didn’t bother to move to shelter just raising a paw to feel the water. It dripped from their fins and off their tail.  It was a decent spot to meditate and consider if they wanted to let their friend continue trying to set them up on dates. Honestly part of them was a bit tired of it, still in time who knows maybe they might find someone decent, or even a new close friend would be fine. The rain continued to come down. So long as the thunder didn’t start coming down dangerously close Vale decided they would just sit and wait this storm out. The sunlight was bound to come in time. That was the nice part about storms. They cleaned things away and left a new refreshed feeling in Vale’s heart. Vale was just currently in the waiting part. On that rock they smiled and watched as the storm rolled on relaxed as the rain never bothered them anyway.
