Seaside Sighs
Zoe's days were always full and busy, they woke up early, before the sun had risen, to go gather any resources, in the wilderness. They had been collecting silver near religiously, hoarding it like a Fyrehen hoarded food. For what purpose they coveted the coins so dearly, they didn't quite know, but something within them, some sense of urgency and notion of the future, told them that it very well may come in handy. They'd been given 50 silver as a gift from one of their close friends, Lady Elizabeth, to buy themselves a new outfit from Home Sewn, run by Jade Mirage. They'd been so touched by the gift that whatever time they spent not gathering resources for themselves or tending to their own livestock, they were helping with Elizabeth's livestock at Farm Song.
Zoe had become fond of Lady Elizabeth shortly after their awakening in Silverlight, they liked to consider the two kitsu close friends, but they worried perhaps, for Lady Elizabeth was friendly with everyone, if it was not, in fact, as close a relationship as Zoe tended to imagine.
It was rare that Zoe got any time to themselves that wasn't spent working in one way or another, but today had been different. The fyrefowl had been watered, fed and their pen cleaned. Zoe had been up at the crack of dawn, pulling weeds and harvesting wild flower seeds. They had even gone into Farm Song and offered their help, only to be turned away - Lady Elizabeth hadn't needed anything of them today and it had left Zoe a little stumped. They had an entire day to themselves now... what were they meant to do with it?
Having heard of the summer's festivities, the beach party, the sand castle building contest, and the scavenger hunt for oceanic delecaies (the latter which Zoe had found the time to participate in, in the name of profit) they came to the decision that they would have a seaside outing. They checked on their fyrefowl pens once more, opting to leave them cozy at home, rather than trying to herd the birds onto the sandy beach, where the ocean could swoop in and grasp them at any moment. Once certain that the fowl were safe, Zoe turned and started to follow the trail down to where they had attended the beach sometime before.
It wasn't a short trip, nor exactly a fun one, either. They spent a great deal of their time trying to use their earth inclined powers to push plants out of their trail, but that didn't prevent them from stumbling over themselves and landing more than once, muzzle first. Weren't vacations away from home meant to be fun? Because this certainly wasn't. Zoe really was more of a homebody, they decided, but they were nearly halfway to the beach, they guessed, so there was little point in turning around and going home now.
So, they pushed through and eventually they did come upon the beach that they'd been seeking. The waves crept softly against the shore and Zoe sighed in relief. Had they been a nautical with a sense of the waves, they would've known that it was currently low tide. As it was, they walked towards the waters, dipping their paws into the cool wet sand and the salty waters and sighed in relief. They had made it! And now, for the first time in a long time, they could relax and reflex on what they wanted from their life.
They thought of Lady Elizabeth, and how they only saw her during work circumstances. Maybe... maybe Zoe would find the courage to invite her over for a meal, one of these days, to get to know her even better. (WC: 623)
On a rare day off, Zoe decides to go visit the beach that everyone's been raving about.
