Who Knew Candles Could Smell So Good?

Even though she didn't realize it today was the day Kailani was going to find something about the season that she liked. Maybe she even loved. Today the Nautical Kitsu was wandering around town, bundled up and trying to pass some free time before needing to get back home. Grabbing a basket, although she didn't plan to actually buy anything, she wandered around, zoned out and disinterested for a bit until something caught her eye well nose. What was that scent? She followed her nose until she found herself in an aisle of candles. Unable to resist the reached out a paw and picked one in a dark brown jar. She pulled it close and removed the lid to give it a quick smell and holy wow! It was amazing, it somehow smelled like a bonfire with hints of cinnamon and something else she couldn't quite place but she was absolutely in love. She closed the lid and examined the label. "Autumn Nights" was the scent. She thought it was kind of dumb, why not just name it what the scents are? Still, she wondered if this was what some associated with the fall season. If so then she had to admit there might be some redeeming qualities to the changing season. As she considered this she couldn't help but open the candle and take one more sniff as a smile played on her lips. She placed the candle in her basket and slowly looked at the other scents. There was several more that caught her eye and she had to smell. Baked apples that smelled mouthwateringly crisp, pumpkin waffles that smelled good and honestly gave her ideas for real breakfast later, cinnamon cider, and a few more that ended up in her basket. By the time she finished going through the entire candle section she had eleven candles in her basket. She felt a little sheepish as she walked over to the cashier and watched the other Kitsu ring up the candles. They made a comment about liking the candles as well and Kailani giggled and nodded, mentioning how she was surprised some of them smell so good. There was a bit more small talk as they finished the transaction and Kailani wished them a good day. She took her candles and began the trek home, not nearly as bad as it had seemed on the way into town. She skipped through the doorway and began setting the candles up around the house. She lit a couple, the Autumn Nights and the Cinnamon Cider, began to swirl their scents around the house and she was pleased that they meshed as well as she had hoped. She took a couple to her room and set them in there for later as well, then placed the remaining candles around the house, some in the kitchen, the dining room, and anywhere else she thought it might be nice to have one to smell if she was in the room later. With a content feeling she walked back to the living room and took a deep breath, enjoying the candles so very much. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. The candles really seemed to warm the house up in a way she couldn't describe and it made it...cozy.
