Zoe had been setting up their little homestead pretty well, all things considered. They wouldn't exactly say that they'd made friends, but their days were becoming less spontaneous and more routine. They still slept and woke up on their usual schedules, and they still gathered grass when they went out on their "wake up" walks. They couldn't be certain why they would pick clumps of grass, nor why some rocks called to them over others, but it was nice to feel as though they had some sort of inventory. Other kitsusagi had homes, blankets or proper shelves with items on them! Zoe, meanwhile, had a fyrehen coop with one fyrehen living the high life inside, and one small barn, that Zoe themselves had been sleeping in, when the weather turned bad.

Today, however, the weather was pleasant enough that Zoe found themselves practically skipping over to Farm Song to see if Lady Elizabeth was in a chatting mood - the livestock owner usually was, and it seemed that Zoe was in luck, for today Elizabeth had even asked for their help in rounding up the escaped fyrefowl from the largest coop.

Zoe only had to deal with the one hen at their home, but she was a lively one and enjoyed putting Zoe through the ringer any time Zoe tried to check for eggs or the like. Now faced with at least five escapees, all scurrying around in opposite directions; Zoe was admittedly beginning to feel pretty overwhelmed at the sight. Clutching their paws into fists and then relaxing their fingers, they let their palms hang open and at the ready. They looked around for their first target - a blue flame fyrehenf. This color was Zoe's favorite of the available colors from Farm Song, though of course they'd never let their Butterball at home know that.

Creeping forward, Zoe bent down low and with a messy hop on their part managed to scoop the fyrehen into their arms. They yelped and nearly dropped the bird when it pecked unhappily at their paws and arms, but Zoe managed to get them back into the pen before any extreme damage was done. There were already two fyrehens, with Zoe's help, now three, in the pen again - Elizabeth was making quick work of this - Zoe would have to do their part to be more helpful too! Turning back around to face the remaining hens, with one whitehot in direct sight, Zoe rubbed the peck marks on their arms and then returned to their task, determined to help Elizabeth, in exchange for the kitsu's good company.
