Zoe had no idea how to produce food from animals - and even if they did know, they weren't exactly sold on the idea. Their fyrehens were clearly as aware of the world around them as Zoe themselves were and the idea of eating lallabaa, with their cute fuzzy heads and wide, naïve eyes... it made Zoe's stomach turn upside down. So, what they ultimately ended up finding and eating, where bugs and worms. They learned through trial and error which bugs would fight back and which ones wouldn't, but they were filling enough and they didn't cost any of the silver that Zoe had acquired over time. Zoe still wasn't totally sure on what they were holding onto their silver for, but it didn't seem plausible that they could suddenly just get more of it out of no where. There were only so many tasks to be done, so what silver Zoe had, they often reasoned to themselves, must be saved and held onto. Something would come up in the future, Zoe suspected. Right now, so long as they could eat from the earth, they didn't see a need to spend their precious silver on things like cooked food.
