"I don't know if this is true for everyone, somehow it feels cliché... isn't that silly? It isn't as if I've asked anyone else about their experience to know what's common. The first thing I felt, was warmth." Vervain giggles, a little self-conscious, fusses with their fringe for a moment, then quickly moves their hands down lightly gripping the edge of their chair.
"Blooming warmth," they bring their hands up, not able to sit still for long, one fist pressed to their chest and the other covering it, "just here, and spreading outward." They sigh, dreamy, eyes closed, reliving the moment, exhale.
"Then, falling, no. First floating, then falling. I wasn't scared at all. Of course." Their little wings give a flutter, they tilt their head and grin. "When you're flying, and the wind is just right, when it catches you and you're weightless. Lift, but going downward too. Like slow, drifting."
"After that, well, everything at once. Confusion, for a moment. Disorientation. I wasn't sure whether I was up or down. Happiness! Joy at just being alive," their face lights up, they speak with their hands, lively and animated. "I laughed, first thing, I don't know why."
"The sun was so bright, it was early morning. There was a breeze. When I finally looked down, well, I was just a few feet off the ground, and so I landed. Spread out all around everywhere were wildflowers, grasses swaying, pops of color! Bugs! And I realized I knew a bunch of things, like butterflies and bees. My name! Vervain Delalune. I felt love… That must've been Eva. Maybe?"
