It wasn't luck, but rather Vervain had planned on starting these livestock projects early in the day, but still, maybe a little bit of luck was involved, because the morning's weather was /so nice/. Elizabeth and Vervain had chatted, and poked around. Checked out the barn, (it was deemed fit for a handful of lallabaa to make a comfortable living space) and picked out a nice place to put up the hens' coop. It was shaded in the afternoon and close to the well, close to the barn as well.

The weather didn't really start to get too hot until after the coop was finished and standing, but the pair were sweaty from their efforts all the same. With the bright sun straight overhead, the winds that usually rush through the wildflowers and long grasses had up and vanished. (They'd probably snuck down to the river, those wily winds.)

The lallabaa pen still had to put up, but Vervain was wilting, and needed a break. They invited Elizabeth to rest in the shade, before rushing into their little home and returning with big sweating glasses of cool water, little sweet fruits floated and bobbed as they rushed to return to Elizabeth's side. "Oh, I should've asked, if you even like sweet things…"

Should Elizabeth decline the sweetened drink, Vervain would insist on fetching something different, either way, they had a short break in the shade, all the while they sat and rehydrated, Vervain dug their clawed toes into the dirt.

"Oh, I'm feeling better already. Ah, but we can rest as long as you need. No rush." The urge to babble on about this or that bubbled up, and Vervain either quelled it or let it loose, depending on how Elizabeth had reacted to their previous bouts of talking. When the break was done, they began pacing out a large space, meaning to keep it fairly square, it just felt better that way.

Whether Elizabeth brought tools, or they needed to use what could be found in the barn, pen building was fence building, and fence building was a lot of pounding long, sturdy poles into the ground at regular intervals. Without tools it would be the work of days, if not impossible, but even with tools it was rough, tiring work. When it was at last complete, Vervain was so grateful for Elizabeth's help, that they promised Elizabeth space in their barn and pen for extra lallabaa, always. "Whenever you need it, I mean it. If you've got a need, call on me."
