It happened all at once, in a matter of seconds.
Roshan blinked rapidly, hoping to clear his eyes or have the slightly eerie image of a quaint little empty town washed from his vision but it wouldn't go away. Confusion creased his brow as he looked about, searching for something, someone, anything. Right now, though, it seemed no one was around. No other kitsu meandered through the streets or doddled in the windows. Still, he took a deep breath and called out.
"Hello?" No answer, save for the birds flying above him. "Hello?" He tried again, louder this time. Still nothing.
Roshan's ear frills drooped slightly, a small frown stretching his normally happy features.
He was alone. Again. He didn't like being alone.
With slumped shoulders, he turned on his heel and headed for the dock he'd spotted before he began to look for others. If he was alone, the least he could do is be alone with himself--as crazy as that sounded. So he sat on the end of the dock, leaning just far enough over so that he could look at his reflection in the gentle ripples of the water and waited.
Someone had to come by eventually. Right?
