Prompt topic: Beach
"Beach, beach, beach." Calix hummed to himself, excitement at seeing the beach turning his normal gait into more of a skip. He had been excited from the moment he heard the beach was open and he was not willing to miss a moment of the fun. Of course he had spend the morning packing a beach bag with everything he could think of, only to laugh at himself when he sister reminded him that a beach blanket would be a good thing to have on this trip. The blanket was swiftly stuffed into the bag and he was on his way to the beach. Finally! His sister followed him, although rather disinterestedly he had to admit. She had grabbed a couple books. As soon as his paws felt the sand he was dancing around with excitement. The feeling of sand on his paw pads felt unique, he loved it. And it was warm! He drew lines and circles as he hunted for the perfect spot to enjoy the beach to the fullest, but his attention for the mission lapsed it took almost no time to forget he was even holding the bag as he danced and moved around drawing abstract designs in the sand. Then he heard the sound of the waves breaking against the shore and he froze, his eyes drawn to the water and his tail swishing with excitement. He was never leaving, that was all there was to it. From now on he was living on the beach he thought, a grin covering his muzzle. Feeling the bag being tugged from his arm he pulled his attention away from the ocean to see his sister taking it from him. He chuckled and mumbled an apology, she smiled and teased him before going to find a spot to read he assumed. It didn't matter, he would find her again when he was ready to relax. Right now he was going to explore every single inch of the beach. First, though, he wanted to feel the water on his paws. Scrambling to the shore line and watching the waves roll in, the water retreating just before it touched his toes. Slowly he took another step forward and stopped, watching the waves hit his toes and chuckled.
Finally, after a few hours of jumping in and out of the water, walking up and down the beach, and chasing birds Calix had worn himself out enough to need a break. He went to find the blanket Larkspur had set up. He flopped down, noticing how the sand was comfortable under the blanket and let out a soft purr. This was the life, and honestly he couldn't understand how she was not having as much fun as he was. She was curled up on the blanket and lost in her book. He shook his head and chuckled softly as thought about teasing her for not enjoying the beach. Before he really had a chance to think about anything to say to her his eyes were heavier than they had been seconds before. With the sun on his fur and the breeze blowing the smell of the salt water to his nose had him yawning and thinking instead that this would be the perfect time for a nap.
