Prompt: Early morning chores

Larkspur was not a fan of hot days, she preferred the colder weather honestly. The only bright side to the weather being so hot was more of her plants would bloom and she loved when her garden was full of colors and fruits and wonderful smells. She was currently tending to said garden while her brother did his chores with the animals. She was singing softly to the plants, something she felt helped them grown and she would do it every morning. Some of the fruits were ready to take inside and she was excited for the snacks that they would have over the next few days as she loaded them into her basket. Maybe there was even enough for a small picnic later today or tomorrow. Her eyes lit up with excitement at that thought, she loved taking a small blanket and sitting in the field just outside of the city. She wasn't even aware of it but she was grinning widely at the plans for the future. All of this had the additional benefit taking her mind off of how hot she was and how uncomfortable she was with the heat. She strolled through the garden and her mouth started watering when she saw there were two watermelons that were perfectly ripe and ready to go inside. Oh how delicious they would be right now, but she had to hold off and finish her chores for now. She moved as quickly as she could, trying to get things done and get inside to cool off. She was almost done with her chores when she realized she was panting now, and sweating from how hot she had gotten. Oh that might not be good she worried she had overdone herself now. Setting the basket of fruit down she took a minute to rest, counting out the full minute while she focused on her breathing and now becoming more aware of the heat again. When the panting had slowed back to her normal breathing she picked her basket up, made her way to the vegetables, and picked the ripe and ready vegetables adding them to her basket as well. She carried everything back to the house, setting it all down in the kitchen before returning back to the garden to pick up the two watermelons she had spied as well and bringing them to the kitchen as well. She smiled at the counter full of colorful and mouth watering food she had brought in and was very excited to have them for dinners, lunches, snacks, anything and everything. With her biggest chore for the day done she was almost ready to move on to working on house cleaning. She was slowly cooling back off, and was feeling better as a result. Before she started sweeping the house however she decided a glass of water would really help as well. Once she felt properly hydrated again she grabbed the broom from the cleaning closet and then almost instantly put it back. Calix was tending to the livestock so she should wait to sweet until after he tracked in all the dirt from that. She would start with the windows and such until she was done then she would sweep.
