After returning home from their summery adventures at the beach and finding their little town of Silverlight full of duckies, Jaden was immediately enamored with the little flowery fowl. Often they would try and play with the ducks in the little river near their home, but more often than not, the water birds would waddle away, wiggling their little tails and taking their lovely flora scents with them.
Jaden had tried many different tactics; from running them down with a net, attempting to corral them into the lallabaa's pen, to sneaking up and trying to grab one. That ended with Jaden getting bit! They stopped trying so hard after that.
Rather than chasing and sneaking, Jaden decided to sit down and calmly watch the duckies, in an attempt to learn their behavior. What they liked to do all day, what they liked to eat. They were always around water, dunking and splashing. Although the ducks would also sleep floating on the water's surface or at least near the water's edge. They grazed on grass and wild plants, but also ate things they could find beneath the water's surface, frog spawn and tiny fish.
After three whole days just observing, Jaden made a new plan. First they went to Farm Song and bought a Small Pond with money they earned from caring for their livestock. Installing it took a lot of digging, and the fyrefowl that Jaden was already taking care of, got in the way a few times, curious little birds. It was alright though, as they were already very, very fond of the fowl's antics, adding water birds to the mix would only liven things up around here!
Finally, after the pond was dug, lined with clay and filled with water, Jaden took a break. The weather was cooling off as summer waned, but it was still really warm out. Sitting on the edge of the pond and soaking their legs felt wonderful, and soon they'd forgotten all about the heat, kicking and splashing in the water. All the noise and commotion brought Vervain out to the yard, and then Jaden was roped into helping collect fruit from the orchard, whatever fruits that were very bruised, or had gone off a bit, were fed to the livestock as treats, so Jaden really didn't mind helping.
The next day, when Jaden went out to care for the livestock, they found a Rosy duckie doing laps in the pond. Well, that solved that.
