Walking. I was just walking. The sun dappled my shiny, streaked fur, sometimes winking in my eye as if to tease. The setting was beautiful. I walked a wide path that was made for foot traffic and vehicles. The ruts in the road suggested that it was mucky when wet, but also that there were people nearby. The air was cool and moist, full of the smells of greenery and decay. But the undersides of the maple leaves glowed spring-green; it was Spring. Between them, the sky was boldly periwinkle and its vibrant color pushed against my eyes as it fought to be seen. But my pace was slow and comfortable. I was not in a hurry.
Unfortunately, I did not know where I was going, nor from where I had come. Where was home? Where was destination? Were they one and the same? Or was I going someplace new? That prospect got my heart racing. What would this new place be like? Who would live there? What wares did they have to sell, and were they in the mood for some good music?
That's right! I was carrying an instrument. I could not tell what it was, but I was more than confident that I could play it. Was I a musician? A singer perhaps? It would be great if I could sing while playing. So I strummed a few chords, cleared my throat, and started singing. I do not recall the song but I was definitely rusty at singing. No matter. It was not as if it was my livelihood. Right? Oh dear.
