Kitsusagi are a fascinating and magical species native to the planet Atheas. These foxlike humanoids have a unique life cycle that includes three distinct stages: Orb, Adolescent, and Adult.

Orb Stage: The Orb is the magical manifestation of the developing Kitsu. Originally thought of as an egg, it serves as a protective retreat for gravely injured Kitsusagi to recover. The Orbs take about 2 weeks to release their magic, resulting in the emergence of an Adolescent Kitsusagi.

Adolescent Stage: This stage is equivalent to the age range of 11-14 for Kitsusagi. During this period, they are playful and curious, undergoing a significant growth and learning phase. Adolescents cannot reproduce at this stage.

Adult Stage: After spending approximately 4 months as an Adolescent, Kitsusagi transition into the Adult stage, where they remain for the rest of their lifespan. At this point, they gain the ability to reproduce, should they choose to do so.

Kitsusagi have three gender expressions: Masculine, Feminine, and Non-Binary, and gender fluidity is common among them. They style themselves outwardly to communicate their gender expression, but this can vary and doesn't strictly determine their gender identity. Kitsusagi may prefer a specific gender expression in their partners or not prioritize gender expression at all when forming relationships.

In terms of reproduction, Kitsusagi do not have physical sex characteristics. To conceive, they exchange heart-shaped tokens, symbolizing their desire for children and consent. After 2 to 3 Kitsusagi exchange tokens, they may spend time together, showing affection and sharing experiences. The heart tokens contain magic from Eva, the goddess of life, and when activated, they draw magic from each parent, resulting in the formation of 2-4 magical Orbs representing their future offspring.

Magic is an integral part of the world of Atheas, and Kitsusagi are no exception. They have a primary element assigned based on their subspecies, which includes Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and the unique Spirit element, further divided into Light and Shadow. Additionally, Kitsusagi can access a secondary element, chosen from Fire, Water, Wind, or Earth, adding versatility to their magical abilities. Each element corresponds to a Rock, Paper, or Scissors technique, defining their combat style and approach to using magic.

Kitsusagi show affection through various love languages, including words of affirmation, acts of service, gift-giving, quality time, and physical touch. They have diverse professions and hobbies, and while many utilize their magical abilities in their chosen fields, it's not a strict requirement.

Kitsusagi's world is rich in magic, diversity, and intricate relationships, making them a truly captivating and enchanting species within the realm of Atheas. Their unique characteristics and the complexities of their society offer numerous storytelling possibilities and opportunities for exploration and discovery.
